A tree grows in Brooklyn, and a farm grows in Queens. Atop a 7-story building in Long Island City, there is an urban farm growing vegetables and raising egg laying hens. The Brooklyn Grange Farm not only has a rooftop farm in Queens, but in Brooklyn as well (hence the name), totaling over 2 acres in rooftop cultivation. They have free tours, workshops, and ticketed events, which are totally worth it. Now that colder weather is upon us, it only seems right to highlight this bustling rooftop that will slow down considerably in the winter. Discovering the many gems of Queens can take time, but it is totally worth it. Be sure to look out for the Brooklyn Grange's tours and events, which can be found on their site.
